Biggie Smalls created a lot of buzz throughout the community on arrival. It led to vast amounts of enquiries regarding details on the creation of Joomla Templates. Many enquiries were similar to others, So I thought it might be an idea to sum up details as best I can, to a presentation concerning the main features on how to make professional Joomla Templates.
Hey guys! It is been a long time since we released joomlacomment 4.0 beta2. Actually we were planning to skip 4.0 stable since beta2 was doing pretty well (no major bugs etc). But well, nobody is perfect. Recently a security flaw was discovered in all previous versions of JoomlaComment, including beta2. Naturally, a new release had to be made to address this.
The new RC1 release here today has patched the security, and has additional compatibility fixes and tweaks (since beta 2). Now it is the best time to update to the most stable and secure release yet. If you downloaded RC1 from the forums already, you are encouraged to update too as additional fixes have been made.
It is nearly 23 o'clock. After several weeks of hard work the new alpha release is on the way! The backend was completely refactored* and the frontend structure was changed.
Here is what you can read on the extension's website:
JomTube Video Gallery is the most Powerful Video Extension made for Joomla 1.5x Content Management System (Joomla Video Component) which will allow you to transform your Website into a professional looking Video Gallery with functionality that is similar to YouTube.com. JomTube Video Gallery extension video gallery and has been created specifically for the Joomla 1.5x (MVC) Framework and can not be used without Joomla 1.5x as Jomtube is an extension of Joomla and not a stand alone application.
Some 2 months ago a user requested a plugin for the popular joomla classified ads Extension AdsManager. Today I had some time to finish the plugin and it is available for download through the marketplace.
As of today there is a plugin for the wonderfull K2 component from joomlaworks. I wish to thank our forum user Benny for the initial work on this plugin. I took his code, rewrote it for joomlacomment 4.0 beta2, added the ability to have friendly urls to use rss and the module :) and now the plugin is available in the download section.
Many of you have requested the possibility to show jomsocial avatar in comments. Now I finally found the time to install jomSocial and to write the necessary code for this. You will find the option to show jomsocial avatar in the next version of joomlacomment, but for those who are not afraid to make changes to comment.class.php and want to test the code you are welcome to do so.
The people that are receiving the newsletter know that I was organizing a webinar for the first 15 people that bought BiggieSmalls. Well, this was a little bit bad organized, because that 15 people didn't have time on the same day for the webinar. So I ended up, explaining only to Tom from Utah how to configure BiggieSmalls :) I hope you learned a lot Tom!
This time I want to make everything better for you! So the first 15 people that write in this blog post are going to be subscribed for the next webinar. Then I will send an e-mail to those 15 people asking them to write when they have time for this in doodle.
Hey there! You have no idea what troubles I had to release this template this morning :) First I didn't have internet connection at home yesterday evening. Today 30 minutes ago I deleted the whole site, while trying to delete a single email account :D Thanks God that the recicle bin was invented!
But I'm not going to bother you with my problems anymore :)! You all want just to know what's up with BiggieSmalls!?! It is out there finally, ready to be downloaded.
As a launch special I'm giving you the following deal. Till the 11th of September there is only one version available! This is the developer version of the template(which means, that you can use it on unlimited sites) at the price of the personal level license(3 sites). This way you can save some 70$ on this template!
Man, I'm so excited! Really, I don't know when was the last time when building a zip package, installing it, uninstalling it, bulding it again, installing it again, un.... was fun?!? Somehow when I visit compojoom and see the countdown my heart starts to beat faster and faster! I've made an online demo site for our beloved BiggieSmalls template. And to test, that everything is working as expected I made a new theme for it - called "Facebook" - when you click on the button at the top of the demo site you will understand why :D
