1. Is the module CSS styling friendly, or am I going to need to hack php files to get a specific look? Specifically, I'm trying to get something like this.

2. Does syncing take place automatically, or do I need to go in and do it manually on a regular basis?

3. How do you handle passwords given that people subscribed in MailChimp won't have one? Do you send out randomly generated ones on first sync (or send *any* emails out?)

Hi Andrew,

1. Is the module CSS styling friendly, or am I going to need to hack php files to get a specific look? Specifically, I'm trying to get something like this.

The module is CSS friendly, but if you want to achieve something like the site in your link you could also use a article and load the module there with {loadposition CMCMODULEPOSITION}. The advantage of this is, that you could mostly use the WYSIWYG-Editor of Joomla.

We tried to minimize the CSS in the module, so you can use your own Joomla template css code to customize the layout (starting with .cmc-signup).

2. Does syncing take place automatically, or do I need to go in and do it manually on a regular basis?

After you installed the extension, you set up the Web-hooks (in Mailchimp and Joomla) and do a first manually synchronisation. After this you normally don't have to do a manual resync again, because any changes are forwarded through the Web-hooks.

Best regards,

Yves

Ah, I didn't notice you had already replied before editing my post to add a third question. If you wouldn't mind answering that question as well, I'd appreciate it. I'm very careful about what gets sent out to my subscribers.

Hey Andrew,
I don't understand your third question? What does CMC have to do with the user password? We just subscribe the user to the mailchimp list. We currently don't create any joomla accounts.

Regards,
Daniel

Well, the listing on the JED says:

"Two way list & user synchronisation"

By that, I would have assumed that it synced both from Joomla to MailChimp, *and* from MailChimp to Joomla, which is what I was asking about. Is this not the case? If so, what is meant by "Two way list & user synchronization"?

2 way user sync means.

User subscribes on your list on your joomla site -> we sync this to mailchimp.
User subscribes on mailchimp(or you change his details on mayilchimp) and this data is synced back with the cmc installation on your site. (done through webhooks).

Currently we don't auto create users in joomla when someone subscribes on the list. However this looks like an interesting feature.
