I've got Cupdater v2 on a few sites (both 2.5 and 3). But none of these actually send an email until just after I login to the backend of the site, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Why don't these emails get sent out automatically without requiring me to login first?

Thank you Daniel. That must be it! They were all set to Special and I've changed it to Public.

How is the plugin configured? Is the access level set to special?
The plugin is triggered once every X hours (depending on the configuration). The triggering is made by a user on your site. So if the access level is set to special, then only users in the special user group will trigger the plugin.
If on the other hand the access level is set to public, than every normal user on the page should trigger the check. So, if you have no users, then the plugin won't be triggered.

Regards,
Daniel
