The whole thing should be really easy to configure.
Once you've created the form you want in mailchimp - the only thing you need to do in the cmc config -> is select the fields you want to show on your site.

For the registration plugin you should know, that you don't really have to show the e-mail field. We will grab this one automatically from the standard email field. But all other fields that you have in the form "need" to be shown.
Need is in quotes because - you actually normally need to show only the fields that are required for the form to work. If you have a field that is required, then please select it. If you don't do so, then when we sent the information that the user has filled out to mailchimp -> mailchimp will tell us: "Dude, you a missing a field, I can't accept your data"...
So, please open your cmc registration plugin and select all the fields that are shown with asterisk(*) (except for the email field).

Ok, so CMC will get the email from the subscription form. Great.

So the user will have to provide first and last name. I have done so, but I need some help in configuring my mail chimp fields since I get the same error message. I have included two screen captures for your review.
Please, help me with the configuration of the first and last names in MailChimp so that CMC can capture them on my site....

In the next version there will be a configuration option to use some of the already present fields in the registration form. It will be something like this:
registrationFormFieldX=mailchimFormFieldX
registrationFormFieldy=mailchimFormFieldY

Right now this is not possible. The only field that we can automatically match with mailchim is the email.
So in the plugin parameters the only field that you don't need to select is the email. First name should be present to the user once he clicks the newsletter button.

Let me know if this clears the issue.

Today I used the email field on my Maichimp list and it worked! The subscriber was updated in Mailchimp. I had to synch the list in order for the subscriber appear in the user field back in the CMC Component.

The problem arises again when I want to include de First Name of the subscriber in my mailchimp list. I have included a screen capture of the form for subscription....
I also include the cmc plugin screen captura with the FNAME field.

This time, the subscription does not work, I get a new error message that MMERGE! must be provided!

I think that everything has to do with the way the FNAME field is set in mailchimp. Please review the way I am setting up the field so that you can recommend a solution.

Furthermore, how does CMC negotiates with Joomla if you only have one field for the users name?

We have the standard Joomla configuration for passwords. No specific requierement....
Regarding the mail chimp fields, it would be great if cmc can read it from the joomla, my question would be: in my Joomla installation there is only one field for the name of the user. Maybe that is the problem since my mail chimp list requieres first name, last name, email and birthday?

You don't need to show the mailchimp field in your form. We'll automatically read it out of the normal registration field.
What are the rules for the password? I have to have capslock there or what?

Hey there,
Most probably you have a js error on the page. As you can see the fields from oyur newsletter are required. If you don't fill them they are first validated with js, then they are again validated on the server. In your case it seems that the js validation doesn't work. (most probably because of a js conflict or something else braking on the page). Just look at the console and it might give you a clue what it is. If you can't figure it out we'll need a link to look for ourselves.
Once the js validation works when you click register the required fields from the newsletter will turn red and you will see what you need to fill out.

The FNAME field appears on the newsletter subscription as per screen capture attached. Nonetheless, the error appears after pressing register....

Yes I did, in the plugin settings and in the mod_cmc. Still getting the said error

After fiddling with the plugin, it worked, it displays the newsletter fields, but after filling in the data it displays an error , that fname is missing...

Yes I did, I configured the plugin. It is synching with mailchimp ok...
I´ve included some screen captures....
The only problem that I have is with the newsletter subscription in the user subscription process. The newsletter option is not working correctly since no options for mail chimp´s fields appear and at the end of the process the said error "invalid Mailchimp list id"

Did you configure the plugin? And did you select the mailchimp fields you want to show during the registration?
