My website is a travel guide for the Natchez Trace Parkway which is 450 miles long and runs pretty much in a straight line from Nashville, TN to Natchez, MS. The parkway goes thru three states: Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.

I would like to have four different Menu items tied to HotSpots (map view).

First one (which I currently have setup) is a top level map not tied to a specific area of the map. This is working fine at:
http://dev.natcheztracetravel.com/natchez-trace-parkway-maps/interactive-dynamic-natchez-trace-maps/points-of-interest.html
as it is the global configuration "start position" for the Map Center (which I have set to Tupelo, MS which is close to the mid-point of the parkway).

I would also like to have a Menu Item for each of the 3 states. The menu item would show up in the appropriate state menu in the sidebar with the Title "May with Points of Interest". Obviously, I want each of the 3 maps to start out centered near the mid-point on the parkway in the appropriate state.

I don't see where this can be done. There only seems to be one geographic setting in the global configuration (which I have set to Tupelo).

Only way I have seen how to do this is with Categories. If I had a "parent" category for each of the three states. And, then had three sets of my "real" categories assigned to the parent category. So, instead of having one "Places to Stay" category I would have:
Tennessee - Places to Stay
Alabama - Places to Stay
Mississippi - Places to Stay

I think that would work by then selecting which categories to show in the Menu settings.

But, that causes two problems. One, I now have 3 times as many categories to show.
Two - most importantly - when the map shows two states only hotspots from one of the states will be displayed on the map.

What is the best solution for this?
