At this point I've never seen what happens when the number of tickets sold = number of places available. I suspect the same as changing Max participants to "0' - the Book now button disappears. What would be much nicer (as no Book Now button for a current event is very confusing to visitors) would be to make a pop up that says something like "Sorry! This event is sold out!"
