How can I have the map open with a satellite map view, yet retain the choices for switching map types?

I see in the back-end where I can force a map type, yet doing that eliminates the choice while viewing a map - that's not what I need.

It would be great to be able to choose opening default type when creating menu to map or individual hotspot, yet retain the control within the map for changing between types.

Is this an existing feature that I'm not seeing?

If not, is there a change I can make to the code to default to satellite, yet retain controls?
