Here I am, a newbie, and already wishing! I am anticipating that comments will become a large part of user participation on my site, as I will have three active blogs running, and may even configure a private teaching area that functions like a blog also. One of the reasons I am moving to blog format rather than forum is because, in teaching, it is best if the main articles (subjects) are introduced by me. That leaves the student's main tool for participating in discussion: CComment!
This got me to thinking about the very small textarea provided to create and edit the comments. It's not very inviting for, say, responding to an assignment by writing an essay. Who wants to write an essay in a two-line textarea?!
On the other hand, when the blog is public, maybe I don't want to encourage huge, ranting missives in response to an article I write. Thus the two line text area for comments in a pubic blog might be just perfect.
A couple possible solutions come to mind:
[ol]
[li]Make the number of lines in the text area for comments configurable by article?
─ or ─
[/li]
[li]Make the lower right corner of the text area of comments draggable so the user could make it bigger if composing a longer comment?[/li]
[/ol]
Just brainstorming here. Thinking of possibilities!
