Resolved JOSC error after install Parse error: syntax error, unexpected

I installed successfully it seems (latest beta download) and commenting seems to work. But in the back end when I go to plugins and try to access any of the ijoomla choices I get an error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /home4/internp8/public_html/fastnetnews/administrator/components/com_comment/toolbar.comment.html.php on line 29

Running latest Joomla on commercial shared server at Bluehost. Nothing obvious in other extensions that seems helpful
