Just a suggestion...
How about building extensions for this, that complement the component so it can be used for sports?
This is just a thought, but I see some sports components out there, and they often have a calender system built in.
How about doing this the other way around... a calender system (Matukio) with additional option plugs for sport type of events?

Every sport I know of consists of two meeting parts, where each part is at least 1 person, and then upward to 11 or sometimes more.
The rules for each sport can't be impossible to stick in there.

I know, this is bit more than a regular "wishlist" thing that suggests just a small plug or function...
