I've used contact participants button in the front end of Matukio. It works, BUT, the emails are sent from the email account set up in the Joomla's system configuration.

Surely, it would be more sensible for it to be sent from the event organiser's email address? This would mean that replies went to the event organiser rather than the person that is running the website.

Or, have I missed something in the configuration settings?
