Hello,

I am looking at your Matukio event management software and would like to know if it is possilble to create custom fields for the created events? I need this to be set at a global level so anyone creating an event has the same fields to complete. I have looked on the back end demo, but couldn't see that this is possible on the event page. This is something I really need, so hopefully there is a way. thanks Pete

Kind regards,

Yves

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. Good news you plan to bring in custom fields. A couple more questions.

1. Your planned custom fields in events feature; will it have the facility to allow site users to search these custom fields from the search module?
2. Will the custom fields feature allow to set multiple types of fields? i.e. drop downs, radio buttons, etc...
3. Is there a link on your site to all the features coming in 5.1 and 5.2 releases? Is there a roadmap for your product?
4. What stage is 5.2 in the development/testing lifecycle? Just trying to work out if I can wait that long. I'm torn between Jomevents and your product; both have good features that the other doesn't have. Jomevents gives me custom fields, but only allows a ticketing via Eventbrite and to have my own ticketing system will cost development money with them Your product gives me ticketing system, but not custom fields. Might have to flip a coin!

thank you Peter.

Hi Peter,

1.) Hmm they will be searchable within the component itself, maybe also in the joomla plugin (but not sure if already with 5.2 - the thing is that would need a lot of SQL joins, which will slow the joomla search).

2.) Hmm what do you want to achive with that? Are we talking about event specific booking fields (which is already implemented in Matukio) or event detail fields? :-) Why would you like them to be a select, instead of just HTML / text? (With HTML you could also show any type of field)

3.) We are currently working on a new changelog / roadmap page, but we also have a "Matukio 5.1 and afterwards" forum post with the details (and you could also like us on facebook, where we post screenshots and keep you updated).

compojoom.com/forum/102-newbie-area/1975...and-afterwards#29303

4.) We are currently at 5.0.9 and 5.2 will be a minor feature release after 5.1 (which as i said is almost ready). If you are in a hurry we can always make you also a quote for custom development of that fields (including large discounts because all users profit), would estimate around 20-30 hours for a clean and reliable solution.

Cheers,

Yves

Thanks for the reply.

1. That's fine, searchable within the component is fine.

2. I may be miss-understanding the existing features you have and what is planned going forward. I'll try to explain. In the current software I'm testing, I can create additional fields that are visible to the event creator. These can be radio buttons, drop downs, etc.. For example, my site is for cycling events, so I want additional fields to show the distance of the event, type of event (road bike, mountain etc...), that type of thing.... Once these fields are captured and the event is live, the event page shows these options separately to the main event description. Makes it look clean, rather than all information in one description box. I can also configure the search module to allow users to search based on these custom fields; so a user can search an event based on the distance to be cycled.

3. I'll take a look at this.

4. Depends on the answer to number 3, but I think I can make it work with your product (gives me more functions that I like), so customs dev work shouldn't be needed. If custom fields are coming, I think I can work around it for now.

thanks

Pete

Hello Yves,

I would like to make my decision on which event software to use tomorrow. Are you able to update me on point 2? Just want to get a feel for the custom fields options you plan to release in 5.2.

cheers Pete

Hi Peter,

2.) Aye exactly that and more is planned - you can add unlimited additional custom informations (which support HTML) and you can set the position where every single information should show up (event details info box, event-list overview, below the event title, nowhere etc.). You can also set if users should be able to filter for them (left filter box) and they will be completely searchable.

Cheers,

Yves
