TOPIC: Installation SQL Error with Version 4.0

Hi there,

I've just purchased and downloaded Hotspots version 4.0 and attempted to install it in Joomla 3.3.3 (running on PHP 5.5.10 and mySQL 5.5.34) and get the following error:

Warning
JLIB_INSTALLER_ERROR_SQL_ERROR
JLIB_INSTALLER_ABORT_COMP_INSTALL_SQL_ERROR

There are no issues with the database tables...etc as I have checked and also successfully installed other extensions. So it appears to be an issue with your installation file (I haven't checked it yet). Please advise.

Can you create a private ticket and give me access to your site? I haven't encountered this and don't know how to reproduce it. So debugging on your site & server will be best.

Thanks for your quick reply. I haven't tried it on a live site/server yet, only on MAMP on my laptop. I'll setup a test server online and see if it works on it. What do you think the problem could be?

I tired installing it again on a different Joomla installation (again locally) and the following comes up:

Warning
JInstaller: :Install: Error SQL DB function reports no errors
Component Install: SQL error file DB function reports no errors

I just created an empty test site with j3.3 and I encountered the error. On another server with j3.3 I don't get the error.
Give me some time to debug and I'll give you an updated zip package.

Thanks a lot for that. It's interesting that it works on one server and not the other. Let me know please what the problem might be once you debug it. I think it will be useful for us to know if it is server related as well. We may need to tweak something somewhere.

compojoom.com/downloads/official-releases-stable/hotspots - please download the latest release, it should fix the issue.
When I buy something and I can't even install it, I get really mad. I'm really sorry that you had to go through that. The issue is not with the server... The issue happens only when you install Hotspots on a site that didn't previously have hotspots on it... Basically every new install of hotspots would fail.
In the past we were using the joomla installer to create the component tables, but for a lot of reasons we decided to use another method of installing the tables. It works just perfect, but I had forgotten to delete the lines that instruct joomla to use its own method... And since the files for the joomla table creations were no longer there, the installer was failing.

Anyway, I'm really sorry about that I've extended your subscription with a week to compensate for the lost time. Have a nice weekend & let me know anything else that comes your way!

That's great mate, not to worry. These minor glitches happen when releasing new products ( I made some mistakes like that as well). It comes with the job I'm afraid.
