Hi,
I have a couple of pre-sale questions:
  1. I need a map with several locations, and the locations sortable to in to categories. For example if a user comes to the map everything is shown, if they choose a category then only the items in that category are shown. If the user clicks on one location information about that location could be displayed and directions derived from it.
  2. Does hot spots offer clustering?
  3. Does hot spots offer a away to show routes. I have a need to show specific scenic routes that are already predetermined.
An example of some of the functionality that I am trying to replicate is located here: www.goyadkinvalley.com/

Hey Chad,
I'm really curious why you ask the above questions. Have you seen the demo page or the product page? Did you have a look at the screenshots? I'm asking this because in my opinion the demo page should answer all your questions, however if you've seen it and you are still asking, then something must be wrong on our end. Please let me know!

1. yes, this is exactly how hotspots work - check the demo: demo.compojoom.com/hotspots
2. yes. Here is how it works: compojoom.com/support/documentation/hotspots/ch05#id359747 (it's also on, on the demo page)
3. You could achieve that by using KML files. Check the demo page one of the categories has a KML file.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thanks for the reply, I did check out the demo but I wanted to make sure. I recently purchased another map plugin only to find that the demo didn't work like I expected on the live site and the documentation was very lacking beyond the basics.

In regards to the clustering are there options to show an icon or a number that is representative of the number of items in that cluster. I see currently it just appears as a dot.
As for the KML file I couldn't find a category that has exactly like what I am looking for. If you take a look here: www.goyadkinvalley.com/search-by-category#byways (screen shot attached) you will see the scenic routes are populated on the map. Is that possible?

Chad

This is the KML file: www.diigo.com/item/image/48vz2/gw9k You can make circle, path, whatever you want.
You could for example have a menu that loads all the hotspos in category X. In category X you'll have only KML files, in the menu item you can hide the menu on the right and this way you'll achieve the same thing as the one that you show me in the screenshot.

About the clustering, no. The clustering that we implement is similar to Fusion tables here: developers.google.com/maps/articles/toomanymarkers . The rendering of the dots happens on the server and the images are cached.

Regards,
Daniel
