TOPIC: Hotspots did not show user location properly

Hi:
Visiting the demo page of Hotspots , the site shows a location about 300 km from my location browsing from Safari (Mac)
I'm in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the map shows the first screenshot, instead the second

Sorry for the late response, I somehow missed your topic 6 days ago.

When you first load the page -> we use your ip and map it to a physical address. This might not be that acurate. The other issue that we have in this view is the fact that we use a web service for the requests and that web-service is often down. I'll update the component to use a local datbase with IPs for this initial mapping.

After the IP to location mapping is done in the browser you have the option to share your location. If you do decide to share your location this finding is way more accurate and shouldn't be 300km away.

I visited the hostpots demo again. As before, the browser asks me to share my location and I agree. This is the result:
In Safari (mac ) now shows the geolocation in Germany. (I'm still in Buenos Aies, Argentina. )
In Chrome (mac and windows), shows the correct location, but shows about 1000km radio. It can be configured?

Seems to be a issue with Safari. I ll try in iOS devices tomorrow to check.

You sure that it at all updates the location? What happens when you click on the find my position button in the map on this page:
demo.compojoom.com/hotspots - where is the pullsating circle showing you?
HTML5 geolocation can't be wrong with 1000km . 1km I would understand, but 1000... That is not possible.
