Hello!

The general import of old comments does not seem to work for me :(...

I select the database I want to import, the component (for Joomla articles it's com_content, right?), and all the other fields (except for the last two fields that are not present in the file I want to import), see in attachment. Then there is a message of success in Manage comments: "The import completed without any error. You can have a look at the results below" but there is nothing below, still empty...

Anybody knows what I'm doing wrong?

There is one strange thing: in my database the "component" column is empty (it's the only one though). Could it be the reason why the import fails each time?

Thank you for your help!

Estelle

Hey Estelle,
Why are you importing from jos_comment? jos_comment is the table that the component normally uses... Which component are you trying to import from?

If you are migrating from j1.5 to joomla 2.5 all you have to do is to copy the jos_comment tableS(all tables) to your 2.5 database (change the table prefix if necessary) and then install the latest ccomment version.

Also make sure taht on 1.5 you was running version 4.2.1. Once you install the latest ccomment version it should make the necessary changes to #__comment and all other comment tables and it should continue to work as normal.

Regards,
Daniel

Dear Daniel,

I had a Joomla 2.5 website which got spammed so I have reinstalled Joomla 3 from scratch and I don't have a xxx_comment right now in my new database (I didn't use CComment before and it's because of that other comment plugin that I got spammed)...

I'll try and copy the jos_comment tables to my new database as you said.

Thank you for your fast answer!

Estelle

If you didn't use ccomment in the past how did you end up with the jos_comment table? Which comment component did you use?

I was using Joomla Comments then Udja Comments I think...

Anyway, it took me a day to copy the old jos_comment to my new database, a lot of SQL errors and stuff because some fields were differents, but I made it and and must say CComments looks great on the website! The backend administration is also better than any other comment plugin I used before. I'm happy :)
