Hi,
I'm pretty sure I saw a topic here about this problem but can't find it anymore...
Is there a possibility to set a default access level for new hotspots created in the frontend? The one Joomla uses as default doesn't fit and many users of my site simply don't realize the importance of the access level. So I want the required level to show up as default to avoid problems with the map not showing hotspots because of a wrong access level. Any ideas?

Hey Jens,
The default access level should be 1 - public. The normal users on your site shouldn't fiddle around with that? What's the problem on your site? Why are people able to change the access levels, are we talking about moderators here?

There are two different kind of users on my site. "Normal" registered users and users with an extended access level to special parts of the site (forum and Hotspots). Only those special users are allowed to create Hotspots and look at the map. The point is I want to set the access level for those user created hotspots to this special user group by default.

Furthermore I have to explicitly grant the right to edit the status in the ACL of Hotspots to my special users for them to even see the dropdown box for the access level.

Is this a bad thing or a good thing?

Well, if you want to set a different access leval per default then you are in for some work. You would need to override the marker.xml file and set a default value for the access field.

I've written a tutorial how to make changes on the description field, but the same principles apply for the access field compojoom.com/blog/entry/create-a-plugin...tspots-marker-fields

Well, at least unexpected. It took me some time to find out. B)

I will give it a try, thank you.
