TOPIC: Info Bubble does not appear in IE 8

Hi,

I had already posted this in the bugs section but haven't gotten a response for about two weeks now.
When using IE8 the info bubbles do not display on the map.

In debugger there is a script error pointing to the file: media/com_hotspots/js/libraries/infobubble/infobubble.js
line 972

I haven't made any modifications to the component and the site is a fresh install of Joomla 3.0.
I am running hotspots 3.5.3

Can you please let me know if there is a fix for this? The component is currently running on a live site and this bug is becoming a problem for us as more people report that the map is broken.

I was on vacation and I wasn't able to look at the issue. I can confirm that it is happening and I'll try to find a fix for it within the next few days.

I've tested it with IE9 in IE8 mode and it works fine. I want to test it with IE8 directly, but the virtual machine is taking ages to download the files (on slow internet connection here).

Please test it and let me know if it solves the issue.

Hi Daniel,

It does not work when the hotspot has an attached image, then the info bubble displays "loading data..." and locks up the browser. Other than that it seems to work fine. I'm not sure if this is caused by the same issue as before, or if it is actually a different problem.

I just released 3.5.4 - it contains the same code as the dev. version you are using.

Is IE8 hanging on you when you try to open a hotspot with an image?

I tried to reproduce this with IE9 in IE8 mode, but it works as expected. In my virtual machine with IE8 -> the whole browser hangs, but I don't understand if it is a problem with the virtual machine or with the browser.

I am using IE Tester: ietester.en.softonic.com/

As I also don't have a stand alone version of IE 8 installed anywhere. In IE Tester when I try to open a hotspot with attached image the entire IE Tester program freezes up.

okay, then it must be javascript error that causes the browser to crash. Will try to debug further tomorrow.

What I find interesting is this:

another thing to think about is windows8.1 which will come with IE11 -> which mean that google will drop support for IE9 as well.

Currently what I found out is that IE8 usage is at 4.8% and dropping every month.

4.8% of the 11% of users that use IE. I think that once win 8.1 is out I'll also drop support for IE8.
