Hi, I created a category, filled a few entries, created a menu in map view, but all I get when I click on it , nothing displays in the window.

Yes it works because the only fix I could find was to load a totally different template on that page, which is far from ideal. Based on what was said in the "Map won´t load on the frontend" thread, I suspected a conflict and this seems to be confirming it. I wish there was a way to select in the plugin or menu whether to load jquery to avoid such issues. A bunch of other extensions propose it, is it something that you would consider adding?

You can use the jquery easy plugin to load just 1 version of jquery on the page. Other than that you would need to look in the browser console for the javascript errors that occur on the page.
Our extensions work with the default core joomla templates and extensions. That is the standard we live by. If a template is making something that funky that extensions stop to work, then that's not a good template.
