Hello!

I am building a map for a particular province in the world.

How can I draw a border line around a province so that the map markers even look cooler when inside this border on a map?

An example is something like this:

zoom in closer:

zoon out some more:
oi43.tinypic.com/205tic3.jpg

The target province I have in mind does not have the google map bold bordering yet, as shown in the example, but it has the grey broken line border as of the date of this writing, if you know what I mean.

Many thanks

Hey Sean,
Well, I thought that maybe there was an option for this in the API, but I can't find anything (this seems to be something custom that is developed only for maps.google.com). The only thing I could think of right now, that you could use - is the KML feature. You could design an overlay for the specific area there and when you change from category to category different KML files will load with overlays over different areas.

Regards,
Daniel

okay GOOD - I finally discovered that the KML is in the Premium edition, which is fine because as I will be purchasing that version, I will deploy it as you describe.

Since I will have about 15 categories, is it true that I have to refer to the same KML file in each category, in order to achieve the border around the province no matter which category has been chosen to view?

many thanks

When you change to a differnet category, then we load the KML files assigned to this category. So if you want to have the same border in each category you'll need to publish the same file to each directory.

Daniel
