TOPIC: Setting a custom order for the icons -icon bar

I see where you can set the order by id, alpha, etc..

How can I set a custom order to display the icons?

You can't. You'll need to hack the code if you want a custom order. Currently though - there is no order column in the database.

Would it be possible to change the ID numbers in the database and then sort by ID in the backend?
If so, what's the easiest/best way to access the database, table?

Yes, it would be possibe. Login with phpmyadmin and navigate to #__hotspots_category.
Once you change the ids, you'll need to change the catid in the hotspots_marker table as well. If you don't do so -> then markers will be assigned to the wrong category.
