Hi,

My clients website is using the free version of CMC Mailchimp For Joomla, but they are telling me that a lot of spam email addresses are still signing up to the mailchimp account.

I can see on your website the following feature:

Spam protection
Beside our standard captcha image, BanIP and Censorship features we've now integrated Akismet and Recaptcha.

Is this feature available in the free version, or the paid version? I can't see any options in regards to any anti-spam features in the component or module parameters of the free version - and the modules sign up form certainly doesn't include a recaptcha field. Can you clarify what these features are please?

Hey there,
You are talking about CMC, but you've copied text from the description of CComment (our comment system).

There is no captcha for CMC as Mailchimp is actually sending an email to each email entered into the system. If the user confirms by clicking the link in the mail, then he is actually added to the list.

The people that show in the backend of CMC don't necessary end up on the list. They are only in the DB of CMC, but not in Mailchimp itself.

Regards,
Daniel

I agree that a Recaptcha feature is needed. We get 20 fake registrations for every real one and it just clogs up the Joomla table and frustrates the site owner .

Can you please explain why the reCaptcha function provided by the native Joomla code apparently is removed when the CMC Registration plugin is activated?
The text Captcha remains but the actual image display does not.
Thanks
Jim
