Hello Support,

I have recently download this extension and I love the functionality. The documentation was great as well! MailChimps embed forms wouldn't work dependably inside Joomla! so this was a lifesaver.

However, I've run into an issue that I cannot resolve and I can't find an answer to on this forum. I hope you can help!

I am using MailChimp to deliver PassKeys (not a newsletter) to our website students (since a drip-content delivery doesn't exist for Joomla!) on a monthly basis so they can unlock content. Unfortunately these students are easily confused with the word 'newsletter' on all of the system notifications throughout the sign-up process for these Keys. They aren't activating a subscription for a newsletter; they are activating their subscription to receive these Keys. Obviously, their subscription to this MailChimp list is required for them to receive the content they are paying for, so it's not really an optional process like a newsletter would be. I would like to change these system notifications in the module as they go through the subscription steps.

I've tried editing the default language in the en_GB.mod_cmc.ini file and it saved successfully with TextWrangler and my FTP, but even after confirming the changes were saved in the file, all the language is still the same default. I even dug into the mod_cmc.xml and changed a language string in there to see if it would rollover; no dice.

I'm quite literally stumped as to to how to change these language defaults. Unfortunately, I MUST change them to accommodate the actual purpose of their 'signing up' or the whole registration process with MailChimp is useless because no one will understand that it's for their PassKey delivery.

Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Hello team,

I'm sure your busy, but I do hope to have this worked out sooner than later for my business. I'm sharing my success with your extensions with my codejunkie buddies, and I hope that the support proves to be just as stellar as the extension itself.

When logging in to compojoom today, I was prompted to subscribe with a paid account to the website, and read that it would offer better support. However, the extension CMC-Mailchimp didn't have a paid plan. I don't need any other extensions at the moment, so I don't seem to need to buy one of these paid subscriptions.

Am I wrong? Do I need to pay for something in order to receive an answer to my inquiry about CMC? If not, I would imagine my question should be fairly easy for you to answer.

Thanks again in advance for your help with the matter.

So what exactly are you trying to change? Can you provide me with a screenshot?

Hello Daniel. Thanks for responding so quickly.

I am trying to change the notifications that appear in the module itself during the 'subscribe' process. I want to change the wording so as to not confuse our Clients. I have attached screenshots of the module throughout the varying stages of subscription; these are the notices I want to edit. I have also attached a screen grab of the language file I edited. I was delighted when I found it, but quickly disappointed when altering it made no difference.

I was able to include custom wording to the front of the module, before registration , using the 'footer' text box inside the module settings, but it's the system language that follows that is going to serve to confuse our students.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello Daniel,

Despite my repeated efforts, I cannot seem to get the attachments to successfully post.
Are they not publicly displayed? Because they are not appearing after submission.

Please let me know how to get these screenshots to you.

Do you get any error when you try to add your files? What file type are the images, size?
If you can't manage to upload them here, then please upload them somewhere else and just give me the links.
Regards,
Daniel

I changed the format of the image from TIFF to PNG. That appeared to be the issue.

The following screen shots show the module through the varying stages of subscribing. I need to edit these

This one is fine, because the module options allow addition of a footer:

I need to change the wording here (which wasn't found in the language file I edited, incidentally):

And here:

And here:

This is the language file that I edited. I thought this would accomplish my goal, but did not. I have outlined the edited sections in red.
As I mentioned above, I could not find the text in the 2nd screenshot in this file. I found that text inside an XML file that I referenced earlier, but changing it made no difference either.

I'm completely at a loss as to how to change this language. But the word 'newsletter' is going to confuse our students because its for passkeys.
Thanks

The first one:
"Thank you! Please check your email and confirm the newsletter subscription." -> this is in the module itself. Open it in the module manager and edit the thank you text. Save it and this is what the module should use.
As far the others are concerned -> the location where you should change thi sis indeed the en-GB.mod_cmc.ini
But how about you try a language override instead of directly modifying the file?

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the suggestion regarding the overrides. That was of course where I had first attempted to make the change, but after failure, went straight for the INI file.
I have now discovered why both the language overrides and changing the INI file failed to display the changes I needed:

After your suggestion, I went back to the Language override a second time and searched specifically for each constant, and was surprised to find a duplicate of every one. For example, when I searched for:
MOD_CMC_UNSUBSCRIBE

It would yield these two results:
MOD_CMC_UNSUBSCRIBE
Unsubscribe
MOD_CMC_UNSUBSCRIBE
Stop PassKeys?

Clearly, my changes to the INI file had saved, but for some reason there was a second 'original' copy of the file somewhere that was overriding the one I edited. I can't figure out where the second INI file would be? Ideally, I should remove that file to stop these inconsistencies.

This explains why I couldn't make the changes even though I was so sure I had done it correctly both ways.

Any ideas as to why there are two, and where the offending file may be?
