TOPIC: ccomments not showing

earlier my test ccomments were showing but they have now disappeared
I get JS TypeErrors:
userModel is not a constructor
Comments is not a constructor
... could this have anything to do with the JS not working?

Yes, those js errors are causing the issue. Do you have any minifying extension? Perhaps it is minifying too much...

Not aware of extension only to minify ...

yes, it could be the template itself. Look at the settings of the component or change to a default joomla template to test if it works or not.

yes it is the template - no problems with the other templates ...
i suspect it started happening when I added the slideshow banner to the page - which is integrated with the template - because there was a point yesterday when things worked ...
where should I look to change things?

Look at your template settings. Your template doesn't have to minify our files as we use requirejs.org/ to load them.
