Hi

Well I installed the free version of CComments to check I was capable of managing it before progressing to the paid version. However it seems I am not.

I have installed, configured (yes it is on) CComments. But nothing is displaying on my front end. I also use CJBlog, not sure if the two extensions might not be liking each other.

Yes I checked the documentation on this site and although I can see someone spent a lot of time in that, its not really the "step 1 do this, step 2 do that, step 3 do the next" type of documentation newbs like me need.

Could you please let me know what to do?

Hey Christina,
Well, no matter how good the documentation you cannot make something work with something that is not supported.

So you only use CJBlog? Do you use joomla's article manager at all? I can write a plugin to integrate with CJBlog, but I can do this first next week.

regards,
Daniel

Thanks for your reply.

So it doesn't integrate with CJBlog? Fair enough, sure there are 500 million extensions out there. CJBlog is the one that I use for the blog. Content that is kept outside of CJBlog is not for commenting, so it doesn't matter. I have all of the Core Joomla suite actually including the Polls and so forth.

CJBlog takes the articles from Joomla content and puts them into blog categories and formats. So yes it is both Joomla and CJ components.

If you think it is all possible to integrate then I would be very happy to buy this. Looks great and means you can have management over comments and provide greater interaction.

Only thing is, I do not know if it is my Blog extension causing that, or if it is me and my setup.

Hey Christina,
I actually just installed CJBlog & found out that it actually uses com_content (article manager) and on my joomla installation I can see the comment form below the blogs:
awesomescreenshot.com/0f71h6nx6d

So, it must be something with your configuration. Can you provide me with backend access to your site?

You can also make sure that content - ccomment plugin is turned on and commenting on com_content is allowed in the parameters of that plugin.
Also you have to make sure that in Components -> CComment -> settings you have created a setting for com_content and that you've allowed the correct categories to comment on.

Regards,
Daniel

O gee, very kind. Ok well checked and is on. Still suspect it is me being a nub somewhere, but not enough knowledge to fix, only enough knowledge to be dangerous. :P

Ok give me a tic and I will buy your extension now. Plus I won't feel bad about sending you the information via a contact form then. Can't be putting the creds on a forum

Thanks for the subscription (Y)

It turns out that the freiChat module that you use casues a JS error on the page & that is why the comments are not showing up.

Daniel

Then I abandon it for CComments which provides much more benefit to the site. Just as well I haven't put the site out there yet or peeps might be yelling at me to put it back.

Thank you, fantastic assistance! You lived up to your reputation out there. :cheer:

@Mary - CJblog uses the default joomla article manager -> that is why CComment should work (and it was working in my tests) with CJBlog.
There isn't anything specific that you need to do for this.

Daniel
