Hi Guys
I am just getting to grips with joomlacomments and am looking forward to using it on my site.

I have a problem in that the comments are not posting. Using firefox and Chrome to test. read some topics and used firebug to analyse and got the following report;

no element found
JOSC_xmlValue()client.js (line 257)
[Break on this error] var result = xmlDocument.getEl...me(tagName).item(0).firstChild.data;

How would I correct this?

Thanks in advance

Phil

Hey Philip,
Did you make any changes to the template?

To the joomlacomment template, not yet. I have selected the modern as suggested.

would you make a complete uninstall?
go to the content settings -> complete uninstall -> yes.
go to install manager - uninstall joomal comment. Then install again. Go to frontend and try to post.
No you can start disabling the emoticons, website field etc.

well I uninstalled, then I reinstalled, there was an error message, so I uninstalled to try again. ahem, only this time I forgot the "content settings -> complete uninstall -> yes."

When I try an install I get the error message "Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "**/components/com_comment"

I have had a look via FTP and cannot see any such directory. How should I solve this? Thanks guys.

Did you check both...

[...]/administrator/components/com_comment/
[...]/components/com_comment/

...and remove the directories (the whole thing, not just their contents)?
