TOPIC: Problems saving joomlacomment settings - 400 error

Hi,

I've just set this up on my online testsite. Install goes ok (have to manually copy the 4 xml and php files), and the comment system works fine, tested it on an article.

However, if I go to the settings and try to Save/Apply I get a "400 Bad request. Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand."

Any idea what could be wrong?

Anyone?

Man Joomla is turning out to be a pain in the ass with directory security settings and the likes.

Hm, can you check your configuration.php and look what value you have under live_site?

what does the error log say about this problem?

I'm assuming it's this error (just removed my domain), could it be related to the Joomla htaccess file I use?

Try it without the modifications to the htaccess and see what the result will be.

Tried removing the htaccess stuff paragraph by paragraph, and also tried to remove all of it. I still get the same error :/

Could it be something on a higher level I should ask my admin about?

Just rename the .htaccess file to htaccess.txt and test if it works. If it works, then you must look for assistence from your server admin. I don't understand a lot of the configuration stuff there.

Hmm, yeah. Tried it all now. Doesn't work, I'm getting that 400 error no matter what I do in the Joomlacomment config save/apply. Perhaps I should look at a simpler comment plugin, though I felt the customisation options in this one fit me perfectly.

I have been googling it a bit, and found a similar thing, hadn't tried this one though. With that modification the entire administration of Joomla fails with a 500 error, hehe. Guess I should ask my server admin for some assistance with the modsecurity, it may not like that I try to override it.

Failed. Couldn't get the security issue resolved, so I've changed to another comment system that required a lot more customization

Yeah, this was my favourite, but there's only so much you can try, when you've also got a BIG list of templates to adjust to your design I may try again if there's a new version when I implement my next site with a similar design.
