TOPIC: Plz help me? Only articles titles are showing

Hi,

First of all I'd like to say joomlacomment looks like a great system, I first had some issues with the install just like many others. The files had some problems moving even with 777 on. But through searching the forums I found the solution by manually copying them. Allright its all installed now.

Just have a problem now. My webpage www.supermoto-central.com uses a front page blog view with about 10 articles under eachother. They show some content with a pic above some text, sometimes a read more link if the blog post is a bit bigger.

But when I have the comments turned on, all the contents from the news posts disappears and I only see the title,poster and time of posting.

This only happens with the posts in the section I have joomlacomment applied to, other articles from other section are showing up fine on the front page.

It has something to do with the Show "Read On": setting I think when I enabled it everything goes wrong and when disabled its fine but no comment link is displayed. The description of this option is also kinda vague...I dont really understand what it does.

I hope someone can help me, I have been searching the forums for 10minutes but found nothing.

Is the legacy support on and is this happening with another template?

Legacy is on ofcourse but I don't know it does the same with another template. I'm afraid to switch templates because I don't want to ruin anything.

You won't ruin anything by switching the templates, just do it and tell us if something changes.

Allright I tried switching the templates and it seems to work fine in other templates... I'm using the joomlart avior template btw.

Btw I can post comment to articles that have a read more link in the frontpage article.

But I want people to be able to post comments on articles that don't have a read more button. How do I do that?

If you make for example the title linkable - so that these people can open the article - it should not be a problem to comment on these articles.

But I want people to be able to post from the front page, by clicking on the write comment link on the front page, just like on the screen shot in the first post. But it's only showing the article titles that way, not the content of the articles.

To me this is clearly a javascript problem with your template. I could spare 5 minutes to look at the problem, but you have to turn on the write comment link first.

send me an super admin account, so that I can log in your site and turn on the readmore button and then look where the problem comes from.

Hey roderik, I can remember back then when Alain Georgette was developing the component we had a user with the same problem.

Your template must have a function to remove the text. when the page loads - the text is there, then when everything is loaded it disappears.(javascript)

The best thing you can do is ask joomlart about the exact function that causes this behavior.

There is a javascript funciton

I don't really understand what this function is doing, but as you see it is some sort of hack for the readon button. And makes something with the TRs in which your content is.

Please contact joomlart and let us know the solution

P.S. You can also try to delete the function from the ja.script.js file (in your template).

Hi Daniel, sorry for the late reply. But finally got the time to look into it! I deleted the hack in the javascript file and now it works fine! I'm so happy! And it didn't seem to change anything with the readmore link, so thats good too.
