TOPIC: Spinning arrows after sending, continuously....

Dear Forum,

I am having a very frustrating time...I installed Joomla via the automatinc install on godaddy..switched on legacy and installed joomlacomments....everything worked well..in fact you have a great product!!!

The problem is that I needed to reinstall the joomla package and after I deleted and reinstalled I re-installed the joomlacomments and everything seemed fine....the add comments section is visible on each entry..however when i go to add a comment, i enter all the details and click send but I get the spinning arrows and this keeps going on forever.

I have read the forums and tried the "htaccess" file solution but it didnt work...I take it the problem lies with the database as the comment obviously must be written somewhere. I am not a whizz..so I dont know where to look for the config. When I uninstalled Joomla it did remove the databases and the re-install created new ones but I did install the package in the same directory (root) so I wonder whethere there might have been some file in there that was point ing to the wrong database...I searched and could not find any and then I re-installed a second time but still no luck.

I can try again, installing in a different directory, but I just wonder before i do that whether there is a file or config that I am missing that would cause this spinning arrows problem.

The spinning arrows are normally showing that you have soem ajax problem. But it is difficult to tell you why if it was working before. Yes, you can try to install joomla and the extension again in another folder and if it is still not working then we must assist you.

I have reinstalled joomla three times now including a rocketloader version and I still cannot get past this spinning ball problem.
Do you have nay further thoughts?

I had a look at your site - there are a lot of javascript errors, that can be causing the problem. Perhaps it will be not a bad Idea to check everything with rockettheme and first repair this erros and then we can also look at !jocomment.
Something more - there was a strange message about DNS servers or something like that? It can be that !jocomment doesn't find the right path to the scripts and that is why nothing is published.

I am afraid the Rockettheme is nothing to do with it...i have installed three clean copies in different folders and a rocketlaunch version of joomla just in case joomla wasn't installing it correctly..I consistantly got the spinning ball...I know joomla is installed correctly.
The DNS is only a mechanism to allow work on the site before it goes live..jocomment worked in this state the first time I installed it (as stated in my first comment)...nothing has changed there and it does not affect the internal paths of the site.
Thank for having a look at it but after a week of trying I am going to have to look for another comment product.
Its a shame as I really liked jocomment.
Maybe the next version could work for me.

May I get super admin access instead of admin? I can not access !jocomment as admin.

So, I'm somehow sure that is a problem with your server and joomla installation.
After trying to log in frontend with my username and password I get:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Not sure why you are getting that. I just logged in with the username and password and the link and it worked fine.
I have tried it on a friends computer and they can login as well..Have you tried xxxxxxxx.net.previewdns.com/administrator/index.php ?
obviously replacing the xxxxxxx? with daniel/daniel

I see what you mean about your login form the frontpage..if you login as the admin you dont have this problem and the comments still do not owrk..with a single user they do not work. please email me a password that you would like the admin to be and I will change it to that...ross@smallvillehouse.com at least that way you can go in and login at the front and back...I understand if this is getting messy but I am happy to change it to let you in

Pleased to report setting the livesite in the config.php file solved comments issue... maybe something to keep in mind if you are using staging URLs, also the login turned with ur name/passwd out to be a login database sync issue...cheers for your time

If i turn on ajax i have the same problem. which sucks because that disables the reply| quote function. Spins for a very brief second and then comes right back to where i was. I'd appreciate any help with this you can lend.

I can not test it, because I need a user and password. Can you perhaps check the forum for your problem. There are lot of threads like yours - the problem mostly comes from a bad language file or changed comment template.

This occured from the very start of the installation of the program. I'm using Replicant2 from rockethemes. I know they use ajax, mootools and such so i'm fairly sure its some sort of hidden java conflict.

i've noticed you've changed the templating css but you've not told me if you've remedied the problem nor what was causing it? Can you please let me know so i can restore the template to how it should look?
