Hello,

I always get a Scripterror 500 when I like to open
one article on my Joomle site.
It just says "Error 500 - Scripterror" not more.

Its´s this article:
www.igadget-news.de/Hardware/Hardware/re...fuer-das-iphone.html

(comment function is disabled on this article yet, b/c ppl like to read ist)

Any suggestions what I can do to fix it?
I don´t see any error in config or smth else :(

Joomla:
Joomla! 1.5.11 Production/Stable [ Vea ] 03-June-2009 03:30 GMT

btw. this error starts yesterday. Before everything works fine, no error at all. No Server oder any other updates since 4 weeks (or so).

Any Ideas?

Thanks a lot
Ingo

I can't suggest what to try because I don't get the Code 500 error, so I can't investigate it. You will need to enable JoomlaComment so I can investigate.

Error 500 in Joomla is usually triggered by PHP5 as a security defence mechanism because you have incorrect permissions. If you cannot verify a dir/file CHMOD of 755/644 respectively, please try the easier method of installing GuardXT to verify your Joomla Installation is correctly configured.

If that doesn't solve your issue, please PM me a phpinfo() dump of your site - it's probably a PHP plugin or accelerator causing Apache to throw a tantrum.

Lastly, if you have any "Security" or "Anti Hacker" type extensions installed, please do share the name with us as it may be a conflict. Thanks.

Hello Jonus,

first of all thanks a lot for your answer.

My hoster find out what the problem is.
On User who add some comments didnt register and didn´t give any details, so the comment was just named "anonymus"
b/c of this i get the Scripterror.

Info of my hoster was:
We found out that the component start a DB query in the user part of the DB and gets an error back (maybe b/c the user isn´t registered?
We can´t really find out what´s wrong there but try to check the comments, maybe deactivate them.

I deleted the comments and it works perfect now.
The funny thing is that when I add a anonymus comment somewhere else, nothing happens.(just tried it)

Looks like a problem w/ just this article?

The rights are all on 755.

I don´t have a Sercurity or Ant Hacker extensions installed, no. Just Joomla, Seo, a Forum, Adsense, Analytics plugins.

If you need smth to analysis this prob. let me know and I will send you.

all the best,
Ingo

Hmm, well I dont really know if this is a bug or not. Maybe it is an exotic setting on your webserver, I would have no idea how to fix this.

Please if you can, could you go to your phpMyAdmin frontpage, and look on the right - there will be information on server versions there that looks like this:

If you could share that with us that would be great. You can PM it to me if you feel safer to do that :)

It may very well be related to MySQL4, but that's just a guess. To be honest, I really have no idea

Has the problem been solved though? You mentioned it only seems that one article is causing the error - is there anything "special" about that one article? Does it have a plugin in use or is using Embedded Media, something like that?

For me, the problem is solved so far, yes.
It´s always good to solve the problem but it´s bad
if you don´t find out why it happens :)

On this article is nothing different as on other ones.
The only "special thing" here is that in the "Hardware Review" Section we use a gallery plugin called:
"Simple Image Gallery"

But that is used on all articles in this section:

www.igadget-news.de/Table/Hardware/Hardware/

And no one hs a prob here w/ anonymus comments.

But again interesting:
If I post an anonymus comments in the "Problem" article, it works fine ??

If you like, try to post a anonymus comment here:
www.igadget-news.de/Hardware/Hardware/re...fuer-das-iphone.html

I don´t understand anything :)

I'm sorry, i'm out of ideas. I agree, it is nice to know why an error occurs even if it seems OK now, just incase it happens again in future! I will try and get Daniel to take a look at this thread, it sounds complicated.

Maybe your webhost provider changed something...? I don't really understand what they mean by "starts a query in the user part of the database and gets an error", but maybe Daniel does :)

Hello Jonus,

I asked my webhoster if they changed anything.
They told "no, you get a notice whenever we chance anything, even small things"

If you need to know, it´s www.df.eu
(Domainfactory) a very very good hoster here in germany.

What the tech guy from my hoster ment was:
Your comment component starts a database query when I open the article (b/c of the users and their accounts)
So, the anonymous poster don´t has a account b/c he´s not registered, and the database send smth back to the comment component and maybe the component interpret this wrong?

Smth like this. Sorry I am not a programmer, hard to explain :)
But the strange thing here is that I now can add anonymus comments and nothing happens and that the problem only was on this article wich contains anonymous comments.

If you or Daniel need any Information, just let me know.
I take a look if that happens again.

Sorry for the double posting.
Just a short Update.

The anonymus poster, posted again.
And guess what? Yes right, I got an Scripterror 500 :)

It´s magic or smth like this? :D

He just quote some words I wrote before and postet some lines. Thats it.

If I do this anonymus, nothing happens.

Magic hands of this poster? :)

Umm... who is this anonymous poster? They may be trying to remote script execute (hack) your site... as I said before, 500 Errors usually mean one of two things - The webhost is failing from being overloaded/stressed, or it's a "Last Resort" security breach tantrum...

O_O

I think someone could be trying to break into your user database? I really wish I could replicate this probolem myself, so I could examine all the server logs and debug output...
