While using !JoComment 4.0 beta1 (although it also occurs to me using the available alpha version). I get an error

It only occurs using Captcha. It doens't matter if I turn on or off the xmlErrorAlert.

Any clues?

The error is in Dutch, roughly translated:

"An XML-document can only have one element of the highest level"

I suggest using XAMPP instead of WAMP, WAMP has some issues with advanced Joomla installs and I can verify that XAMPP works 100% with latest Joomla and JoomlaComment4. WampServer also doesn't have Perl.

The main advantage WAMP has is that you can instantaneously switch your versions of PHP and Apache and whatnot, apart from that there's not much reason to drift from XAMPP - as recommended by Joomla - apart from personal choice.

I hope XAMPP solves it! I use it, pretty sure Daniel does too, so you know it should work ;)

Also, you are on Vista/7... if you have UAC enabled, give your C:xampp folder permissions FULL CONTROL to EVERYONE, or alternatively use XAMPP to install the Apache/MySQL/PHP programs as SERVICES which gives them USER:SYSTEM permissions :) Or just disable UAC

UAC was the first thing I disabled after getting my Vista laptop. That thing was annoying me to the bone.

Right now I am downloading Xampp. Lets see what it does. Thanks for the help!

Disabling UAC is stupid. We have to learn how to use the system as normal users and not with administrator rights. This dialog windows are perhaps a little bit much, but they are first level of defense!
installing xamp on another disk, different then C will solve all your problems with permissions :)

Well, I only disabled the UAC window,

right now I installed xampp, indeed on another drive, not on my C.

so UAC is running as a service and xampp is running still nice. your component is doing it without problems.

Problem solved! Thanks a lot.

Well Daniel, I think UAC is a good thing but it's not for everyone. I come from a non-IBM PC background and remember Microsoft's Windows XP User Guide stressing "It's important to not use your computer for casual tasks under an administrator account - always create a Guest or at most a Power User for day to day work" but everybody ignored that, so they brought in UAC to address stupid users

But hey, i'm one of those people who's never used a so-called "Anti Virus" software (although I run scheduled scans per month still, I havn't been infected since WinXP SP2 days).

right now I installed xampp, indeed on another drive, not on my C.

I would have suggested that instead; but most users have a single partition. My bad! At least they used to... these days we have terabyte harddisks its more common to have partitioned data it seems.

I digress. Glad you solved the problem Jack :) P.S. If you think your localhost might be a little slow on a bigger site, try configuring XAMPP things as services for more efficient thread-pool management (especially on Windows Server 2008) ;)

I only test my website on localhost. I got it only somewhere at a server. :)
