TOPIC: PHP5 - russian charset is wrong

Hi again,

Joomlacomment was working nearly fine on php4.
Now, I've upgraded to PHP5 and surprisingly all joomlacomment output appears as question marks - ????????

The comments itself are fine. The rest of Joomla is also fine. Only things such as "add new message", "quote" etc appear broken.

My joomla site is in utf8. Jommlacomment also has utf8 in "local charset" field.

Here is how I've upgraded my hosting to php5: I've created .htaccess file and put this line:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php .php4 .php3 .phtml

I even uninstalled joomlacomment, changed to php5 and installed it again - same thing... Can ypu help, please?

Here is a solution:
use russian.php3 from previous Joomlacomment (alpha3)

Something is wrong with the new one...
Obvious difference is in the new one "define" is used instead of JOSC_define

I've changed new file with JOSC_define but it did not help, still outputs ?????
I think there must be invalid characters somewhere is the new file...

I would be glad to help if you tell me what to look for.

For me the russian file seems OK. no ???? characterrs - it is also saved as utf8.

When you open the russian file can you read it?

Regarding the file:

I can read the file in notepad. If I use TextPad, it shows the error: the file contains characters that do not exists in code page 1252 (Ansi - Latin I)
The TextPad displays question marks instead of russian characters. But this behaviour is the same for both old and new file.

On Wintel box both files works fine.

Will be glad to help more... but can not understand the difference between files...

I've just checked your site and I don't see any probelms with it. All text are readable for me? or did I miss something. Point me to the exact path of a post please.

It is fine because I put old version of Russian.php. Try to replace it with current version and see the difference...

Ok, I've tested it and you are absolutly right!
I don't know why you have this problem and I also can not find who sent me the russian.php file, so at this stage I will add the old file to beta2.
