TOPIC: Help Quote Function Not functionning - Freeze Joomlacomment

I would like any tips on this one as i am clueless; everything else works, fine. I edited a bit css and html to have seemless insertion in the website (however i did not remove anything from html).

What hapens is when i click on the quote button, the ajax loads to make the comment apear in the box, but in my case it's just load indefinetly f"reezing" the component....????

Why??? I did have the problem of parse error at the beginning of installation (on admin side to go for settings) but changed the code on line 29 as resolved in another post by dimitri.
I don't know if that had something to do with it ?

Well for anyone interested in my case, or if anyone heard of that bug, please feel free to test:

Well my bad; i must have indeed touched the html and did something bad as it's the whole comment system that does that; well thankfully i saved my css on the side; so i will reinstall it.
Anyhow thanks for this great free component, it's with module with this quality that makes joomla great; when i have money to spare will def give a donation;

Godaddy, that's what you get when you first buy a host on the price and then you live a day by day nightmare/ anyhow i am in the process to go to fusednetwork hope that won't happen there... Yep my FTp access is gone, so i supose php function too, which explains my problem... I'll say; well i just had to unleash a bit as i can't develop anything tonight anymore..; hope it does resolve by itself, i am just tired of opening tickets with them for issue and getting not helpful replies....

I tried it in IE8, thats the best browser for checking errors still for some reason - my Firefox addons didn't say there was any error! Anyway, this is what IE8 says when I click Citer...

Line 148 of client.js appears to be

JOSC_http.open("POST", URL , true);

I'm not sure why that's happenning, Daniel might know more. What are the permissions on the client.js file? It should be 644 - check that for us and let us know your result

Well thank you for your help; the js on the client side is indeed in 644. I honestly think it is my host the problem; as after my messages i was able to use the quote. The thing is that it did work well again, and then today it doesn't (+ when it doesn't work it's not just the quote but posting that doesn't work); i can only imagine that there is a problem with my hosting. Anyhow i will install this website on another webhoster so i am not that scared (it's for a friend that i am making the website). If i run into problem there i will let you know. Well i can only thank this forum, i never seen such good and quick response and will to help in anyother joomla forum; and for a free component it is indeed quite impressive.

Since it's JavaScript related, it might be conflicting with another extension on your site.

If you load your page in Internet Explorer 7 or 8 and click the Quote button to try and replicate the error, look in the bottom-left corner for an Exlamation Mark and "Error on Page" message. Click the yellow exclamation icon, click Copy, and paste the error here.

Either way, just try and get an error to show up while using JoomlaComment and share with us the error message it gives you

Well i didn't test it on IE yet as i leave that at the end so to not get depressed. And indeed i get erorr; well that's the one i am getting now (as right now it works again, it does post and cite on mozilla fine), contrary to mozilla in my IE
1. Add new post doesn't go to anchor tag or however it works comment form
2. When i click quote, it does put the quote now but doesn't go to the bottom;

To sum it up sometimes it works post and quote, but does have this bug in IE (not the case in mozilla where it works fine); and sometimes it just doesn't work at all....I do understand it's on the client side the javascript; but how does it decide to work sometimes and sometimes not; I do think that the error message Message: Access is denied. has to do that my access to my FTP yesterday was off maybe.... cause thejsclient perm is at 644; the folder jscripts at 755...
Well i don't know, it's a new bug now in IE; the other one when nothing happens when you post and quote if it has nothing to do with my host as you did see that it was on the jsclient script the error make me clueless then; well let me know. Thank you

Only thing I could think of is that there's some sort of file corruption going on. Do you have Internet Explorer 8 installed by the way? Version 7 isnt so good, and 6 is just horrible no point looking at bug in older versions as they are crap anyway

Yep i did test it with IE 8, and it still isn't on par with other browser but it's another topic alltogether.

Well i am clueless, especially about the fact that i just tested it again and now when i click add new post (the button at the top) it does go at the bottom at the comment form (which it didn't do before), however now it does not allow me to post or quote and show the error you've noticed before:

(i have seen problems before but i am quite mesmerized by those ones, who heard of js deciding to work one time, another nit, and then you try again it works, what the hell...)

So to sum it up:

When posting and quoting works, it does only without bug in mozilla;

in IE:
1. Add new post button at the top doesn't go to the comment form
2. When i click quote, it does put the quote now but doesn't go to the bottom;

Hey there - what version is this? beta1 or alpha3 or 3.26? Can you try it with a standard template - if it is working there, then you must have done something wrong. When I try to post on your site using firefox the send button doesn't make any request to the server, which is really strange.
