Hi,

My problem is that, for some users, after writing special characters (letters with accents) the rest of the post are lost.

Image: img30.imageshack.us/img30/5729/noaccentcopy.jpg

This problem only occurs to specific users. I don't really get it, since for me, and for most of the users it works perfectly fine.

I use Joomla 1.0 and !joomlacomment 3.26 (it is now updated, but when I used an older version, the same problem occured), MySQL 5.0.51.
The collation in the database is set to utf8_general_ci, and my Local Charset in the Admin backend is set to ISO-8859-2 (for Hungarian).

I don't really know what the problem might be for those users, maybe a browser setting? Not sure. :S

this already sounds nasty to me. Your database collation is utf8_general_ci, your backend is working with iso :)

But yea, this sounds kind a crazy. If this is working for you I don't understand why it should not work for the other users. Perhaps, you can check the database! Is all the comment stored? If yes, but you cannot see it in the frontend, then check the settings under content settings->security->overflow

In the database the comments are stored the same way as they shown in the front end.

And btw my overflow settings are -1.

As for the Local charset, for me, it works with both ISO and UTF-8.

What is the collation of the database tables and you are sure that not all the comments are stored, but only a part of them?

I will need one such comment to test it.

As I said before, the collation is utf8_general_ci of every database table.

And yes, I'm sure that it's the same in the database since I checked, but here's an image of it:

I will need one such comment to test it.

Do you mean a link to a content with such comment?
Here's a link: www.redlightteam.netne.net/index.php?opt...view&id=17&Itemid=51
Look for Black wolf's post (dated: 2008-08-26 02:44:09), it's the very same post, as in both of the images I've shown here.

No, it happens also to some others. Not sure about the numbers, but about 20% of the users who comment.

Can you give me a comment that has the problem. I want the whole comment with the accents.

also please check the jos_comment table for errors.

jos_comment is fine.

I can't give you such comment, as for me, it works fine, and I don't have the missing parts of those, which had problems anywhere, since it also doesn't stored correctly in the database.

What I tried now is that I asked a user, who had the same problem with her comments before, to allow cookies from the site as an exception in the browser options. And after she made the changes it worked for her, she could send the whole comment with accents for the first time.

I hope it wasn't just a fluke or something...

hm, well without coockies you cannot do a lot of things on joomla websites(including log in the site :))

I don't think that can be in any way related with joomlacomment, but I could be wrong. Any idea what browser these users use?

This particular one, who helped me, uses Modzilla Firefox. I will ask around with others too.

Anyway, thanks for your time. I appreciate it.
