My site runs the following software:
Joomla 1.0.15
!JoomlaComment 3.26
PHP 5.2.8
MySQL 5.0.77-community
Apache 2.2.11 (Unix)

I have used the software for a long time with great success. Thank you for a great product. I have always had anonymous comments disabled.

In the last week or so, I've started getting Anonymous comments anyway. Each of them has only an attempted link to a website in russia. (Example )

They've been one or two a day. I keep deleting them, but I wonder why this is happening at all.

Well, perhaps you are getting spamed from a bot, or a real person is going on your website and is posting the comment.
I'm looking at our captcha system to improve it right now. If I have success with improving it I will write a blog post about it.

But if it's a user, it wouldn't say "Anonymous," right? It is obvious to me that it's automated, so it's some kind of bot, but why is this bot being allowed to post anonymous comments, when I don't allow anonymous comments?

When I was on your site (not logged in)i was able to see the comment form. This means that you didn't enable the feature.

If you enable it - anonymous users will not be able to see the form and will not be able to post.

They can see the "write comment" link, but if they click on it, it says that you must be logged in to post a comment.

LOL, man! That sounds crazy! I really cannot believe that you are getting anonymous comments. Perhaps a user registered as anonymous? (don't kill me for this suggestion :))

Perhaps next time this user or bot posts a comment you can look at the server access logs to see what scripts were called?

Here's what I got:

The content page is the page where they ended up posting the comment. There is no /index2.php, of course.

Please tell me the following.
When you go in backend->extensions->joomlacomemnt->content settings->security
I suppose that you have the following settings:
Only registered: yes,
and
Captcha Enabled (recommended): is set to no

Am I right?

You are right. And, I'm using Joomla 1.0.15. (I'm stuck here for the time being due to some glue with some extensions that I can't upgrade yet.)

well, I think that the easiest option will be to turn on captcha and enable it for only unregistered users. If that doesn't work I will tell you what to change in joomla.comment.class.php file.

Done. We'll see how it goes. Thanks. I expected when you saw I was running joomla 1.0.15, you would say "that's not supported" and go on your way. ;)

Well, that is a problem that exists also for 4.0(actually I just fixed the code) that is why I didn't tell you to go on your own way :)
