Hi, I'm testing migrating my Joomla 1.0 site to 1.5. I've successfully migrated !JoomlaComment as well and everything works...except for the captcha.

The captcha image doesn't display and when I try to right-click and then view image I get a PHP error:

Warning: imagettfbbox() [function.imagettfbbox]: Problem loading glyph in C:\xampp\htdocs\xxx\components\com_comment\joscomment\captcha.php on line 59

Warning: imagettfbbox() [function.imagettfbbox]: Problem loading glyph in C:\xampp\htdocs\xxx\components\com_comment\joscomment\captcha.php on line 66

Warning: imagettfbbox() [function.imagettfbbox]: Problem loading glyph in C:\xampp\htdocs\xxx\components\com_comment\joscomment\captcha.php on line 67

Thanks in advance!

Are you making the migration on the same server? It seems as you freetype library is making problems.

Hi Daniel! Yes, they're on the same server.

Here's what I did on the migration:
I installed !JoomlaComment 3.26 on a Joomla 1.5 installation. I copied the comment tables from the old Joomla 1.0 installation (!JoomlaComment version was 3.25). Do you think it has something to do with it?

No, everything you did is right.
But the error messages you are getting has clearly something to do with the freetype library and not with joomla 1.5

It's weird because I got my old Joomla 1.0 site installed on the same server and the captchas are working just fine.

I tried installing a fresh Joomla 1.5 installation and I installed !JoomlaComment and the captchas aren't working.

what fonts are you using for the captch?
titanic.fauser.edu/php/function.imagettftext.php.htm

What this is is the fonts missing character glyph and is subsituted for any character the font doesn't actually have. It isn't that the mapping is incorrect, as one person guessed at, the designer of the font just didn't make that character or didn't include it in your version of the font (eg - if it is a free version of a commercial font).

This is most common in non latin characters (basically non english characters) so many french, scandiavian, russian, greek.. etc. etc characters won't apear. This is most commonly noticed in strings that include characters with acutes or other similar symbols.

or here a person with a similar bug:

I replaced the font and it worked! I wonder what's wrong with century.ttf? Anyway Thank you so much Daniel for your time in replying to my post. Thank you also for creating a great comment component for Joomla! :)
