Hey,

I've enabled Czech language for front end on my web www.bizy-bee.com but it still replaces Czech letters by ?

You can see an example here:
www.bizy-bee.com/kultura/filmy/107-milio...-millionaire#josc120

Please fix it, the comment is not readable without these special Czech characters.

Can you possibly describe the full path to get there? Like go to Site menu, then click this and that?

because honestly, I didn't find any content settings, sorry

joomla 1.0 or 1.5?
what is the table collation(look this at the database with phpmyadmin)
Are the comments in the database saved right?

You can also make a test in the demo section. If the comment appear right, then it is clearly a misconfiguration in your installation.

Hi,

It's Joomla 1.5.7 with legacy mode 1.0

table collation - in my webhosting control panel - latin1_swedish_ci - but I can't see how to change it to other language...

concerning the comments - do you mean in joomla or in the database in phpMyAdmin? (I see this UI for the first time and am not familiar with it)

I Joomla they look as bad as on the page

see the screenshots....

Ok that is the problem.
Go to joomla comments tables and change the collation to utf8_general_ci. The already saved comments are impossible to be converted. You have to manually edit them(but first change the collation - after that everything should work)

sorry, that wasn't a good idea - I did it and look what happened:

it also deleted all texts from the joomla comment settings - but when I switched back to utf8, it got back to normal...but it still does not work properly - still shows ? instead of the Czech characters...

Changing the database collation caused the texts there to not appear?
That sounds impossible - since the texts are not loaded from the database, but from a language file.

No, the collation in database in my webhosting settings (myPhpAdmin) is set to utf8_czech_ci, but I set the joomla comment settings in content settings to what you suggested and that made all texts in the backend (joomla comment settings) and frontend - as shown on the screenshot disappear - so when I changed it back to utf8 only, it got back to normal.

I'm suggesting that you change the collation to utf8_general_ci , not in backend (in the database, then manually edit the comments and write the right chech characters and it should be all right)

the Czech characters that are already saved wrong in the database (with ?) are impossible to be shown right. You have to manually edit the comments and write the right characters.

Is jocomment now saving new comments with the right characters?

Hi Daniel,

No, that's why I'm writing you...I understand that the posts that are already there will not change automatically. I´m ready to change them.

But it still does the same when I save a new comment - again it's ? instead of ř š č and other Czech characters...
