Hi,

till now I used JomComment, but I desided to change to your Component, because of the Ajax PageNav and the Design, which fitts better in my template...

But I have some troubles with the Characters.... Now almost everything works, but only when I write the Comments directly in the form.... When I copy text and paste it in the form, some Charakters like '`" break the input and the Text is only shown till the Charakter... For Example I have a Joomla Articel with the text

Clint Eastwood („Unforgiven“, „Million Dollar Baby“)

When I copy this and insert it in the Form, it shows the Comment as Clint Eastwood (
But when I write it manually in the Form, it works... Really dont know, but at the Moment JoomlaComment has a really strange Setting with Characters, which no other Component has. For Example JomComment makes no problem with such Copy - Paste Tasks....

Is there the Possibility to fix this, because the Component itself would be just perfect for me... But with this Char Problems it looks a little unstable....

I also have to use iso-8859-1 as local Charset, because when I use utf-8,the Chars are not correct written in the Database...

It would be really great if you could help me!

I copied the text from your post and posted it in the comment form as you see copy and pasting is working.
Perhaps problem with post lenght? Go to security overflow and make all values to -1

I have sent you my login data.... Could you please try it in my joomla system (the login is on the right side of my site, below "Who is online", in the tab on the right of Links)....

Do you know what could be the problem?

I run JoomlaComment with iso-8859-1 and database use latin1_swedish_ci! I dont know if this could be the problem, but it works perfect in JomComment, which uses the same database....

What browser do you use? Do you have any extensions(browser) that can cause the stripping of symbols?

P.S. I have replied to your PM.

I have some problems with the login in Firefox, but I tried it with IE, Opera and Google Chrome, with the same results...

PS: You now have Super-Admin Access ;)

The quotes you use are special chars and since you don't use utf-8 they are striped out.
If you write that with your keyboard you don't use these special chars and that is why you can see them.

Ok, what should I do to fix this problem? My database use latin1_swedish_ci, and when I change the Local-Charset to utf-8 it works a little strange...

At first I insert the comment, and it loads correct with Ajax, but when I refresh the page it shows:

Clint Eastwood („Unforgiven“, „Million Dollar Baby“)

What should I do to make utf-8 work?

As i have said, it works with JomComment, so it must be possible with the Database in latin1_swedish_ci..... Would be really interesseting if you could fix this.

I was always using joomla 1.0 in utf-8 mode.
www.joomlaportal.de/beta-howtos/22419-jo...8-konfigurieren.html

Perhaps there is a simple way to fix this, but at the moment I'm not really sure why the problem occurs. And since we are dropping support for 1.0 I don't intent to invest the time to figure out why this happens.

Ok, thank you for your help, but I think I have to stick with JomComment because I am not sure if the change to UTF-8 is so simple on an running Homepage...
