It would be nice to be able to create a trail of Hotspots, where a given category can be mapped so the reader can see the best way to follow the trail. The State of Tennessee has a number of trails, such as a wine trail, a distillery trail, geocaching trails, etc. If the spots were in a given order, then the best road connecting each spot would be the trail. Is this possible to do?

Thanks,
Pat

I'm developing the site now, www.patdevelopment.com , but it is for the South Central Tennessee Tourism Association. You will see I've installed Hotspots and Matukio, but there aren't a lpt of entries now. I've been copying the members information from a pdf version of their brochure. It's a big job, ad:ding all of the entries to Hotspots. I've got someone adding all the members to SobiPro, but when I did an import, for some reason it didn't work very well so I'm having to go back and edit each and everyone... I need two more of me!

Here is a link to the Jack Daniels trail page:

Jack Daniels Trail

And here is the Wine Trail I've been working on (still have to add a lot of wineries):

Wine & Distilleries Trail

There are more, each category that is a special interest, and based on the trails the State has determined are in our portion of the state. See all the image links at the bottom of each page.

Thanks for considering it, Daniel.

How are you going to add new locations to the trail. Are users going to add locations, or do you have someone who is going to add a location to each category on a regular basis?
you could create a KML file per category and when you add a location, you could also update the KML file. The KML file could draw the way from one point to another.

But if all users in Tennesseee can add locations, then this becomes hard to manage.

Daniel

B) I don't know what a KML file is, but if this is a solution, I need to find out what it is. I would be the only one adding or removing locations from the trail. The wine trail is a good example of a trail that I've built so far. There is a recommended path, with a listing of the order someone would follow to most economically see all of the wineries and distilleries. There are others, such as geocache trails the State is building. This incorporates restaurants and lodging places as partners to promote their businesses as well.

Thanks,
Pat

Look here: demo.compojoom.com/hotspots#41.9325260/-87.6827731/9/cats/86

The lines that you see (blue, red, green etc) are created in a KML file that can be uploaded through the backend of hotspots. You create a KML file with google earth.

Daniel

Absolutely! I've got some work to do on KML files, but it will definitely be what they are looking for. You've made me look great to my client.
