This one relates to the planned addition, sub-categories . Once they get implemented it would be nice to allow selection of categories to be shown when hotspots page is first being loaded. Options:
    Show 'em all.
    Show selected categories.
Save view (by a browser, not server, so a returning user will see what s/he wants to see)
    etc.

One more addition would then be to let the admin define a color to each category & marker.

I don't understand this:

it would be nice to allow selection of categories to be shown when hotspots page is first being loaded.

Can you explain me how this should function???

As I`m looking for almost the same function, I guess I can explain Trude`s request:

Hotspots only shows one category by default when loaded. You have to click "show all" to see "all" of them on the map.

Trude asked for a way, to check/uncheck what categories are displayed and if there`s a way to save this setting in a cookie.

I my case, it would be nice, to see all markers of all categories after Hotspots pops up. I think that`s a start. ;)

Is there a function/tweak?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Sig,
I have the following change in mind.
Instead of clicking the checkbox show hotspots from all categories, I'll move this option directly to the categories list (you will see a globa icon there as last option). In the menu I'll change the checkbox from "all hotspots in all categories" to show only the hotspots in the selected categories(the categories that are in the menu). What do you think?

Hey Daniel,

that`s a nice idea. The user would expect the icon to appear there. Furthermore, as the icon also appears in the right menu (when all catergories are selected) he`ll understand the connection.

Would that mean, that the "global category" (= global icon) is the default selection that appears on the screen, rendering all markers that are available?

I thought to make it the last option, but perhaps this could be configurable trough the backend. Perhaps nobody needs to see all categories at once??? Just the one that he is interested in?

However I have to do those cluster marker optimizations if we want to show 1000s of markers at once.

Ah, sure - that`d be neccessary. In my case, it`ll only be 150+ markers - but that won`t count for others.

I just thought, that the choice of showing all markers could be predefined as the map finished loading. Like the check-box to the right.

Never mind, it`s just luxury, so far.

Hello Daniel,

congratulations to HS2.0! I like it very much. A button for all categories in the list at the top is a very good idea, because it is logically consistent.

Is it possible to activate the checkbox-button for all categories by preset?

Haiko.
