Hi,
I'm having trouble with hotspots and IE7. Tested it on FF, Chrome, IE8-9, Opera, Safari...works great except on IE7 which shows nothing at all. Funny enough everything seems to be there in the source. I applied the jquery hack I found in this forum to display all hotspots on startup...disabled it - no change. I also disabled the directions box (found that hack here too, don't know if it might be the cause). I have JCEMediabox - disabled it, still no change. Tried all three standard Joomla templates (beez5, atomic, beez_20) and they too don't show the map on IE7. Don't know where to look further. Any ideas?

IE is always a pain right there. I had that problem in the past and It was a template's problem.
How I fixed it? I validate my site using: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

I fixed as many problems as I found, and at the end, hotspots was perfectly working.

If you look at our demo page you will see that hotspots works on IE7. With that said - I won't invest any time making sure that future versions of the component are working in IE7. Google has dropped support for IE7 in August and they don't really care if their stuff works in that browser. In matter of fact IE7 is the next browser to die after IE6....

I'm somewhat disappointed by this answer...I'm not the first person with problems in IE7. Each time you told people to look at their template for the error. It definetely semms to be a positioning problem. You only have to look at the CSS stating:
/**

* don't use position here.

* For some reason mootools 1.2

* has problems with it. Position

* is set with js in hotspots.js

*/

As a matter of fact I can see Hotspots working on Joomla 1.5.x on your demo site, not 1.7.x. I even did set up a test installation without any changes and only the standard Joomla templates. There were problems too...everything in #hotspots-navigation is messed up in IE7: slide-bar, icons and search box are out of place. Is

In matter of fact IE7 is the next browser to die after IE6....

all we have to expect from your supsription plans?

PS:
I just checked your demo site on IE7 and it's messed up too:

Hey Alexander,
Hm, you are right! I just had another look at the demo page and it looks the same way as in your screenshot. If you set a width to the hotspots-categories div it seems to go to normal.
#hotspots-categories {
width: 200px;
}
