Hi Daniel / guys may I ask to confirm where the line which is along this line is?

Im trying to use the W3C validator to clear all errors on the page which features the hotspots component to see if this will help the users who are complaining that map doesnt load. Half the problem is I cant replicate this even when I use IE compatability mode. So anyway the first error noted by W3C validator is "link type=.... line above.

Have tried searching the files but nothings turning up so I shall be mostly confused.

Hope this finds the team well, and looking forward to seeing the next version.

Many thanks

Kate

Btw Im just upgraded to the latest stable version of hotspots. Great work guys :)

Hi Daniel, the problem I saw related to something else. Apologies, would it be possible to ask if there is anything I can do to truly strip hotspots out of a site and then reinstall? I only ask as last year just prior to going live (with the funkyness that is hotspots), something happened with the site and since that point uninstalling and reinstalling hotspot leads to a state where the map just says "loading" so I had to switch to a mapping solution that is much older which seems to work. Is there any chance you might give me an educated guess on whats happening, the hotspots map lives at : beherebc.co.uk/testing/all
im retrying the things Ive read about on the forum like missing graphics etc to see if this is stopping the map appear. Any educated guesses most welcome as I really would prefer to use hotspots especially having seen the improvements you guys are continually making to the component.

Hope this message finds you well :)

Forgot to mention w3c validator says everything passes on the page where as an error console addon I bolted into firefox says:

_cat is null - beherebc.co.uk/media/com_hotspots/js/hotspot.js Line 221

"function hsload(was){
markers = [];
currentMarker = null;
if (was == null) {
was = hs_startcat;
}
catid = was;
document.getElementById('hsloading').style.visibility = "visible";
if(hotspots_routenplaner) {
directionsPanel.innerHTML = '';
}
// hotspotsUtils::fontweight();

// if (show_footer_menu) {
// document.getElementById('cat_new_'+was).style.display = "inline-block";
// }

var _cat = document.getElementById('cat' + was);
_cat.style.fontWeight = "bold";

I would love to see the map, but hotspots is telling you:

The category that you have selected in the menu settings doesn't exist - please check the id of the category again

Hi Daniel,

Apologies I was experimenting last night just after posting and removed lots of the locations added to the map to see if one of them was causing the map to fall over. Have just performed a complete uninstall and reinstall. Still getting the message about _cat is not an object in hsload function in hotspot.js.

Have you seen this happen before?

The bears category load just one hotspot - all others are empty.

Maaaaan, hotspots 2.0 will save you so many headaches with that "map not loading" s**t... labs.compojoom.com/index.php/hotspots

Actually I want to make a private fast beta test by the end of the week. - I want to send the component to 5-10 users, they install it, play around, tell me if they find something wrong and if not I release it on monday :)

Do you want to be my test bunny? :)
