Hello Daniel,

Three things I need your expert help in.

I am running a photo site and would like to know what files do I need to access to change the word hotspot and to change the e.g. restaurant in the search field on the map page to something else.

I would also like to edit the Directions link on the pop up window and replace it with "Add your own photo" - could you tell me what file I could do that in.

The category icons are not showing on the map page - the only way that they show is when you click on one of them and the slide out pane shows how many are located where. How do I get the icons to show all the time?

Regards,

Robert

Look at the language file - there you can change the word restaurant to something else. (make a backup of this file, because with an update of hotspots it is going to be overridden)

The directions link in the popup is created in media/com_hotspots/Hotspots.js around line 400. (this is javascript so be careful what you do - make a backup of the original file before making any changes)

I don't understand the last question? DO you want to see all hotspots in a category at once when you click a category? Look at the menu item settings for this -> there is an option to center the markers based on their marker boundaries.

Cheers,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Man you are the best developer out here. The last question refers to the demo that is located at demo.compojoom.com/hotspots and you see one category of icons all over the world. I would like to have the same feeling or presence when you visit my site pictomy. com.

I would like to show one category of icons and to have the map that size also and when an icon is clicked it will pop up a picture, info, etc.. - which I will hopefully code right :)

Thanks for the fast reply.

Also I think that if you code it just right this could be a great component for photos also.

Regards,
Robert

(This is why I bought another license to support your continued and outstanding support and efforts.) Cheers my friend.

Hey Robert,
Thank you for purchasing another license and supporting the development of Hotspots.
Could you please try to formulate your question again - I'm not sure that I understand what you want?

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

When you look at my site and look at the map you see no icons but when you look at your demo site you see icons on the map:
demo.compojoom.com/hotspots

That is what I am trying to achieve.to have at least icons from one category to show.

www.pictomy.com

Hopefully this helps.

Regards,
Robert

Looks like the only photo you have is under the category Dreams.

As soon as you start to populate the categories with more entries / hotspots, you will see more icons on the map.

Thanks for the reply but Dreams is the description of the picture. The category is landscape photos. But even after I added another entry the markers still do not show. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Now you have 2 hotspots under 'landscape photos'. It looks like you solved the problem. :)

Hi Daniel,

No it hasn't been solved.

Steps to follow:

Go to pictomy.com and you will see no icons on the map. It is just a map.

Go to demo.compojoom.com/hotspots and you see Education icons on the map.

That is what I want - I want to be able to show the icons when the page is loaded. But I am not getting any icons to show up when the page loads.

My quest is that I see icons when the page loads. Does this help you to understand? Hopefully this will help.

Thanks,
Robert

Ah, I think I get it now.

So, on that page the start category is Flower photos - but you actually have 0 spots in this category - that is why you don't see anything on the map.
You have 2 options:
1. - put some hotspots in this category
2. - go to menu manager -> your menu (most probably main)-> select the hotspot item -> then on the right you have -> start category parameter which most probably says 1 - change it for example to category 4 (landscape photos) and when the page loads you should see some hotspots on the map.

Does this help? Did I understand the problem this time?
Cheers,
Daniel

Daniel (genius),

Yes and thank you. I can not believe I missed that - getting old :). Thank you again. I will mark this solved.

Just a wish list - we should come up with a way to show a multiple mix of categories.

Say X number of categories on the page load. What categories could load. Maybe a back-end administration switch to show what categories. Instead of one it could be many. Just some random thoughts.

Regards,
Robert

Soon we will have the option to show more than 1 category at once.

Please don't use the words genius, cause I'm more stupid than you think :)

Ah and btw please leave a review here:
