TOPIC: mootools upgrade turned on breaks my site

Hey Daniel,

My site is igniteoutdoors.com . When I downloaded the latest version of Hotspots yesterday (great release!) and turned on the mootools upgrade it broke several things on my site including drop down menus, a rotator, etc. We are using jxtc template teqmart.

Any comments or help would be much appreciated. We love your component and would really like to have it on this site.

Mootools 1.1 is a technology from 2006! It is like IE6 - something that is dying and has to die! It is joomla's fault for supporting it so long...

Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 they all come with mootols 1.3...

What I'm trying to say is that you'll have to check the template and modules for upgrade. I'm not planning to introduce support for mootols 1.1.

Thank you for your note and I identify with your comment about IE 6! Yuk!

We may end up swapping templates as we really want to use your component. In this case the template is Joomlaxtc teqmart and the menu is built in. Do you find many of your users that are on 1.5 site struggling with this issue?

Actually I was fearing that a lot of users are going to have a problem with the mtupgrade plugin, but this seems not to be the case.

Well, in truth most of my support requests are from people that are unable to turn the plugin on, because they have a 3rd party plugin that blocks it, etc. But once I help them enable it, everything works fine for them.

The mtupgrade plugin is in joomla since version 1.5.19 - I think that this was 1.5 years ago??? So, a lot of developers got the chance to update their software... Why don't you check the support forum of your template provider? Perhaps they already have a working version for mootools 1.2

Thank you for your note. I have a request in for the template provider now - if they don't respond positively we may make a swap.
