How exactly does the New Hotspots 3.6.2 work with K2 - is it full integrated ?
Do I need install a plugin ?
Will hotspots get the coordinates directly from K2 fields ?

Thanks
SK

Hey Sanjiv,
It is all in the docs: compojoom.com/support/documentation/hotspots/ch04s07
The plugin gets installed with k2. In the plugin configuration you have to select the k2 field that holds the address and that is all. Once you enter an address in the k2 custom field, we'll geocode that address, and add it into hotspots.

If you enable the show map option in the plugin we will automatically show a map below the K2 entry with the hotspots.
If the users are browsing the main hotspot map, whenever they click the read more button we can send them to the k2 entry (provided that you've selected that option in the plugin settings.

Cheers,
Daniel

Can you show me a screenshot of the settings of the plugin?

Field required: COM_HOTSPOTS_CATEGORY - means that you need to select the category where the k2 entries will go in hotspots. Do you have any category in hotspots?

You can connect the categories with the k2 extra fields.
What you need to do is create the custom fields in hotspots. And then in the extra field mapping enter
hotspots_field=k2_extrafield

one field per line. Then when you create a k2 item, we'll use the extra field mapping config to enter the data in hotspots.

Daniel

Daniel
Thank you - would you mind posting a screen shot so we can see exactly where the
hotspots_field=k2_extrafield needs to go.

The fields I am using include
location
street
city
country

how would each be configured ?

Hey Sanjiv,
Sorry about that. I was in another plugin. The k2 plugin doesn't offer the option to match the htospots fields against the k2 fields.

However the address field that contain the address is enough for hotspots to get the street, city and country. Basically in this field you should type.
My street, my city, my country -> we geocode this address and save it in Hotspots.

Do you experience any issues with this?

Daniel

Hey Sanjiv,
I think that I don't understand the questions properly, so please explain again if my replies are not correct for what you are trying to do.

The hotspots integration works on the base of the address field. If it is filled out, then we try to find the address and save this in the hotspots category that you've specified. If you don't want to have all k2 items shown in that category, why don't you just hide the custom field on the k2 page?

Daniel
