TOPIC: Individual Hotspots Listing Multiple Categories?

Hi there, We are using HotSpots as an ocean awareness/rehabilitation website, and are wondering if we can somehow have a single hotspot listing be in two categories without making 2 hotspots? If not now, is this something that anyone else has asked for as a new feature or are we alone in wanting this? Is there a way we could accomplish this with the existing software that you know of?

Well, you are not alone. There have been several other users who have requested this. Right now hotspots can't do it, and I guess that it won't be able to do it in the future as well. What we would maybe end up doing in the future is implementing tags. So users will be able to search for tags and they will get then similar hotspots.

I should have mentioned that I ask because we are also using Sobipro, and importing data into hotspots. Sobipro can have a single entry be in multiple categories.. I haven't tested it, but I'm wondering if you know what happens to the data when imported into Hotspots if it is under two Sobipro categories? Do you think it would make 2 hotspots in both categories? My apologies if I am asking silly questions, I tried to search the forums and googled it also but I'm not finding answers and I don't want to mess things up with our data!

As far as I remember - when we do the import from sobipro, then we get the first category that the location has and assign this as the category in hotspots. We ignore the other categories.

Any update on this "tag" functionality?

I need better search functionality, and was expecting to be able to search by custom fields. Searching by tags would be an acceptable second best.
