Hello, I don't know if it is the hotspot component or not that is causing a jquery conflict on my site but I have been asking developers to see what might be causing this issue. Right now the jquery conflict doesn't allow me to post statuses with Jomsocial, so I was wondering if the mapping was possibly causing this issue. The people at Jomsocial said I need to disable whatever is causing this line of code: <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>. I don't know how to find what is causing it or even how to fix that issue. You have been so helpful with the other issues or problems I have had and I have been trying to get answers from the people at Jomsocial about it but they are very slow and don't even respond sometimes(which is crazy considering I paid them $100 to get their help with issues and download the component) but I wasn't sure if this was maybe an issue with hotspots since I have them both running on my site or if you would even possibly be able to help me out with this problem since you have been so helpful with other questions I have asked you.

Thank you,
Shaun

Hey Shaun,
I don't think that Hotspots is causing the problem.
The only place where you could run in problems with hotspots is the Map view. If you are in jomsocial no code from Hotspots is being called and it is impossible that it is creating any kind of problems.

Also the script that is being loaded is not coming from Hotspots. We don't use jquery.

I would debug this by going into your plugins and disabling everything that is not a standard joomla plugin. Then when you disable a plugin you'll refresh the jomsocial page and will see if it is working or not. (maybe it is some page optimization plugin???)
I would repeat this till it is working.

Another possibility is that your template is including it (there are templates that do that)

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hey Daniel,

Thank you for your help. You have been so helpful with everything, even when its not your own component that you created lol

The thing about the issue I am having with Jomsocial is that I can post videos and photos and even comment on all of those right on the same page that you would post statuses. The posting of statuses just doesn't work. I had the hotspot component and everything working great with jomsocial and then I just clicked the "purge activities" to get rid of all the test status updates and ever since then I have not been able to post statuses. So I think it has to be a bug on their end that somehow won't allow statuses to be posted. I even went to a standard joomla template instead of my joomlart template, but I still had the error. So I sent them a message about helping me fix it in a timely manner since they haven't helped me at all and I paid them $100 for their component and help from them. lol

I want to thank you again for your help with everything and your very quick responses. I would definitely buy more plugins from you in the future.

I will probably be posting more questions in the future because we are trying to get the jomsocial issue fixed first lol we are going to be pretty much completely changing the content that gets put into the map from the users along with some other stuff to get it exactly what we need for our site. I'm sure we probably aren't using the hotspot component in a way that most people would think of lol

Thank you,
Shaun

It was a corrupted php file. I figured it out by just putting the new php files over the ones that were on the server. So if anyone has this issue with jomsocial, it could just be a corrupted file. The people from jomsocial will not be willing to help you though unless its a simple problem. They still have never responded to my post. But it doesn't matter since I figured it out lol

Hello Daniel and Shaun

I'm really sorry for posting this here as I think that software issues shouldn't be handled anywhere else except on their respective support channels and i know most will agree with me, however, since it has been brought up here, i feel it shouldnt be left without proper reply.

Shaun, in one of the very first replies at your issue, you have been advised to:
- Uninstall third party plugins (as Daniel suggested)
- Remove the conflicting javascript library (JomSocial already use and load jQuery 1.8 - no need for additional and hence older library)
- Remove all the hacks (if any)
- And eventually uninstall and reinstall component (which would ensure you have fresh files installed)

We have given you advice, that i hope helped. If any other issues come up, please don't hesitate to contact us directly on the forum, as we do answer on every question posted there.

With Regards
Sinisa Krisan

Sinisa,

I tried asking you for help and all you told me to do was figure out what was conflicting with jquery. I didn't know how to do that, so I asked and Daniel helped me out with that. I had posted 3 times on Jomsocial trying to get some type of help but no one would respond to me or give me a hint at what I should try. I have never used Jomsocial before and this was my first site with it. I wasn;t asking for anything difficult, I was just wanting help on why my jomsocial wasn't working properly when I did nothing but purge activities. I saw everyone elses question being responded to except mine. I saw other people who had a similar issue like mine were saying how they relieved a "cold shoulder" about their issue and I felt like I was getting the same. I just wanted help fixing it and I didn't care who helped me. It just made me made how I paid to get help and I really just got told its a possible jquerry conflict and to figure out what is causing that. I didn't know what could cause that considering it was working before the purge and I asked for help but got none. So I started asking the developers of the major components I have one my site and here we are today. I wouldn't have cared if you were helping me but the issue was still not resolved yet, I was mad about not even really getting any help in the first place even when I posted 3 threads for it and the final one being very long a descriptive of exactly what was happening. Any other issues I would ask on your site but it was just frustrating asking but not getting a response even when I asked. So I had to figure it out on my own and ask for help from other developers who have possible run into the same issue with their products. For any future customers or clients that might have the issue I had for 2 weeks, when they purge activities, it can possibly corrupt whatever file lets you post statuses. lol I was just mad I got one response and when I asked for help about that, got no responses after that. I know you are busy with a lot of people but even a response like "let me look into that and get back to you" would have been more than efficient for me not to be as frustrated and mad as I was.

Daniel,

Yes, now I can use hotspots and have everything work fluently on my site :)
