TOPIC: Cannot change map icons

Hello, I am new to using this hotspot module. I am trying to replace the icons that show up on the map but when I upload an image, it does not take the upload and doesn't show anything on the map. I can't find the location of the images in the ftp to just edit the images that I am currently using to make them look how I want. Can anyone help me with this or has anyone encountered this before and know how to fix this problem?

Hey Shaun,
So what happens when you upload an image - do you get a successfull upload message?
The images are uploaded to media/com_hotspots/images -> each folder there should have the appropriate write permissions, otherwise hotspots won't be able to upload there.

When I upload an image, it uploads fine and then it only displays the name of the category as the image in the category section where it would normally show the image. Then when I go to the map, it doesn't show any image and it shows that box with the red x that means the image didn't load or is not linked to it. I have the file permissions for those image folder set at 755. Should I change them to 777 for the folder access?

I figured out where to just manually put in icons so that they show up as sample icons. I still can't upload them through the actual component but I can go in the FTP and manually upload them and find them that way.

Shaun, when you upload the image and go with ftp in the folder that holds them - do you see the images? What is the permission on those files? Is it 644 or something else?

When I go into the ftp, I can see the image I uploaded from the component, but it only displays the category name when I am in the category tab. The file permissions for that folder are 755 which is:
Owner permissions- Read, Write, and Execute
Group permissions- Read and Execute
Public permissions- Read and Execute

check the file permissions, not the folder permissions. They should be 644. If they are something like 444 this means that the images are uploaded, but the server is setting wrong permissions - 444 means that nobody will be able to see the file in the browser. And most probably the browser is trying to show the image, but the server is retuning permission denied or something of that sort.

I looked at the file permissions and they were set to 600. So I changed it to 644 and then it showed up. So that was my problem. Is there a way to get it to upload and stay with the 644 permissions? I don't need it anymore because I just uploaded the images through the ftp already but I was just wondering for future reference or if someone else has this problem in the future.
