I am using Joomla 1.7 and the new Hotspots. I want to set my hotspots map so only my pro members can view and add to the map. How do I do this?

Thanks for your time.

I am pretty sure your map must be publicly accessible, otherwise you are violating the Terms of Service for Google Maps. If I am wrong, Daniel can provide more light into this.

Well I know that with joomla 1.7 you can set permissions to different pages, but I can't get it to work? I was hopping to set the map to pro-members so not everyone under the sun would be adding locations. I know there are some componets that allow you to set permissions to pages on your joomla site. One is called Frontend user Access Pro that may be my best bet? Anyone else have any info on this subject?

Oh I hat this so much! I wrote my answer, clicked on send and my session had expired!!!

Long story short - you are going against TOS if you make the map only accessible for registered users. The map needs to be publicly accessible. code.google.com/apis/maps/terms.html

You can however restrict to access to the people that enter hotspots. You can do this on menu item access level... Just go to your menu item and determine who is allowed to see the button or not.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Well, hiding the menu link is an option, but if you know the path the "Add Hotspot" option is still available.

For example if a user who has access to "add hotspot" sends the link to a friend, this user will also have access to this option.
Just tested under J1.7.

Hey Oliver,
I think that you made something wrong. Just tested it myself. When my user doesn't belong to the access level I get:
404 Category not found
An error has occurred.
The requested page cannot be found.

Once I make the resource public my user is able to access it.
