Hi,

I've installed Hotspots 2.0 recently and I appreciate the development. It looks like, this version is more handy and more stable. Great result!

But I have a small problem:

When I call the different categories, the default zoom factor is different. Some categories are shown heavily magnified, some showing the entire world, some showing normal zoom (at least something to recognize)

Does anybody has an idea?

Pleased to hear

Best Regards
hartmut

Do you have any empty category?

hotspot resize the map depending of the number of active/published elements inside the category, centering the markers.

If you go to the demo page http://demo.compojoom.com/hotspots

click on the category: education. This one is covering almost the whole world.

but if you click on the category: park, the size of the map is reduced to eliminate all the unnecessary empty space centering all the published markers.

if you have an empty category, you will see the whole map. To avoid that just populate the category or don't publish it until you have something to put inside.

Hi Eliecer,

thanks for reply,

Yes, I have empty categories, and in this case I would understand it. However, I have also categories with one marker only, and then the map is so much magnified that you see the marker on a grey background only, nothing to see, where the user could find a sort of orientation.

I believe, many users would be irritated by this. Is there any possibility where the magnification could be limited?

Best Regards
Hartmut

Hey Hartmut,
Yes, I saw this problem with just one marker in a category. I also find this annoying and I'll try to find a solution. But are you really planning to have 1 marker per category?

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

no, it is planned that the users add more markers, up to 250 - 300, finally. But at this starting period -and nobody knows, when the next marker comes- it may make them hesitate... ;-)

Hi Daniel,

A solution could be to count the number of markers per category, and save that number in a var. After that, we can use a conditional to zoom the map depending of the value in that var.
